SUNSTONE

A gift shop in Ocean Beach San Diego wanted to develop a limited series of stained glass suncatchers. They decided to keep a hexagonal shape across their designs, and needed a name, logo, as well as packaging for it.

The name and logo had to be in parallel with the product. After a few collaborative meetings we selected SunStone - a reference to the semi-transparent mineral the Vikings used to navigate the seas. The logo is a reflection of the product's heaxagonal shape, with the letter "S" rotating inside.

The client wanted the packing to be assembled without the use of glue and other fasteners, to be protective of the glass inside, recyclable and crafty-looking. We developed a latching, self-supporting box made out of recycled cold-pressed carboard, and printed with environmentally friendly soy ink.
